The Drought Is Over

On October 8th, 2010 Feather River Volleyball beat Butte College for the first time in over 2 years. The above photo is an image of what we like to call Game Changers.

FRC FANS!!!! :)

HEY GUYS! :) Kim Naut (#10), Maureen Aquino (#9), and Jeannette Lira (RS), here to tell you all about our AMAZING fans!!!!! First off, we want to thank those amazing fans; from the parents that travel to every single game to the other FRC sports teams who come up with their own cheers for us!! We couldn't ask for anymore support than that!

It all started at Butte College on October 8th where we had fans of every kind take the hour and half drive to support our FRC volleyball team in their first conference match! We had parents support as always, but to our surprise we ended up seeing Quincy locals, and a few our own Feather River Baseball team players there as well! We finished the game in a 3-1 defeat against our long time rival Butte College after a 2 and a half year losing streak. THE "DROUGHT" WAS OVER!! And every girl on the team could agree that the support we had for that game completely contributed to the win!

Now it was time for our first conference home match!! We were playing the Shasta College Knights. The night before we spent making t-shirts for a few of the fans on the baseball team, and oh man did the rep those shirts well!! Our fans are nothing like the fans from any other school. Not only do they cheer, the cheer LOUD. They stood at the end of the bleachers following our cheers and making up their own! They stood alone until all of a sudden our own FRC Soccer team showed up with sombreros and fully ready to unleash the fury! It began as a competition between the two teams and ended as a combined FRC volleyball cheering squad! Another great success from our fans!

The games continued and we stayed undefeated, no doubt with help of our fans! It now came for the biggest of the year. We were playing our rivals Butte College....again....on our home court. It wasn't just the match of the season, it was our "Dig for a Cure" night and a costume contest for Halloween. The stands were filled with pink and goolish costumes! Well, we ended up taking the match and sealing our first place finish in conference. Our fans immediately rushed the court; they were as ecstatic as we were!!
A big thank you to our fans who supported us through the 2010 season! See you next year!

Jordan's Concussion

It was a dark Friday night at Shasta College. The Golden Eagles flew in hot-n-ready to beat those Knights...worked up a sweat during an OUTRAGEOUS warm up...they were quivering while watching our cannons slam the ball...the whistle was blown and it was on like DONKEY KONG....Kadie Miller zomed the first ball like a champ....we were four points into our intense game when Jordan Maslach came like a bull out the gate to sub in for her curly headed friend Megan Godsil....it was all quiet, then BOOOOOOOM like a hurricane it was an excellent serve, they dug it up and sent it back to our libero Katy Batchelder and she shanked it (her bad) Jordan ran like a wild boar in the African plains to recover the ball, she dove like a killer eagle and popped the ball up...then we heard it, the sound of Jordan's cracking skull against the hard wooden floor of Shasta College....frightened out of her mind Coach Sarah Ritchie ran faster than she ever had before towards her zombie player...it was minutes later when the zombie came back to her life and started chatting away like she always does....she left in the ambulance and we were all frightened for our dear friend but she pulled through like a true champ and we won in the end.

Feather River Dominates

Last Wednesday we smashed Butte WITHOUT MERCY!! They had no idea what was coming for them. It was dirty. It was filthy. It was unstopppable and it was the Feather River Volleyball Team. Although we did drop the third game to them, it was only to make it interesting. The scores were 27-25, 25-18, 17-25, and finally 29-27. We played for the win and came out on top. We are undefeated in conference and plan to keep it that way!

Update...

Just a quick update...
Last week FRC Volleyball had a busy three days!! On Thursday we played Gavilan College and Taft College in the Gavilan Classic. We beat both Gavilan and Taft in 4. Many different players stepped on the court as we were trying to find combinations of players that meshed well. Friday we faced Foothill College and Santa Rosa College (both finished ranked in the top 15 in the state; Santa Rosa-6th and Foothill-13th). We lost to both Foothill and Santa Rosa in 3. Again, many players got valuable playing time. On Saturday we faced Sacramento City College (finished 5th in the state last year) and Fresno City College (finished 14th in the state last year). We lost to Sac City in 3 games and went 4 with Fresno City.
Overall it was a good weekend; we took a lot from it, got the girls some court time and learned that when it comes down to it, we are capable of beating everyone of the teams we faced this weekend.

Off to Stockton for the Delta Tournament this weekend....

The FRC volleyball team hosted a camp on August 2nd-August 5th for all surrounding area high schools. There was an amazing turnout as we had a total of 53 girls from Quincy HS, Greenville HS, Chester HS and Portola HS as well as a few girls from Sacramento and Texas.
FRC volleyball would like to thank all of the athletes that participated in the success of our camp.

GOOOOO GOLDEN EAGLES!!

The team traveled to Santa Cruz on March 27th. We played UC Merced, Gavilan Junior College and Bethany University and totally dominated... just sayin'. We took our own vehicles, which turned out to be quite an adventure. We visited the beach and got some sweet balloon hats. =) We made our cars into planes, found a starfish on the beach, ate at Pizza My Heart then got Coldstone (yum!), had an ex-clown make us cool balloon toys (Jeffrey & Maxine) and took awesome pictures on the beach.

I drove my 1996 GMC Jimmy, who is officially a soldier. You see, I have to jump start poor Jimmy at least once a week because he gets sick a lot. Good news is, his "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" light only came on once in the whole 6 hour drive, and he didn't die at ALL!! (until we got home...)

Jordan's 2 Cents..

Here at FRC we breed champions; not sissy la la's or cry-babies (ok, well that one is debatable), and in the process we get six-packs and lifelong friendships. While we work out in the fresh, clean air (which will startle you city folk), we keep our reputation as the hardest working team at FRC, yeah, that's right you football players, I SAID IT!! It's awesome to be a part of a team that's going places-thanks to our two awesome coachies.. =)
